Perry Klein was then the second string quarterback in his second or third year after being a much heralded high school recruit. Because he never made it to be Cal's starting quarterback, he transferred to C.W. Post college in New York and was subsequently drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth round of the 1994 NFL draft. He was the third quarterback drafted but never made it off the bench. After a stint in the World League, Klein dropped out of football.
